A great American pastime is back in Tipp City, Ohio

Join us at Harrison’s in downtown Tipp City for a vintage base ball fundraiser to support the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers. This a fundraiser to support the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers exhibition game vs. the Kettering Clodbuster on August 16 – 2PM at the Willowtree Inn.

Canal Jumper players will be on hand at Harrison’s in full uniform for autographs and pictures and to talk some vintage base ball in the 1860’s. Tickets for the August 16 game will be available for $2. There will also be door prizes, drink specials, 50/50 raffle and much more! Join us!

Vintage Base Ball Exhibition Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers vs. Kettering Clodbusters
The fundraiser is being held to support a vintage base ball exhibition. The Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers will be playing a vintage base ball exhibition game vs. the Kettering Clodbusters Base Ball Club on Sunday, August 16, 2009, 2PM at the Willowtree Inn – 1900 W. St. Rt. 571 – Tipp City, Ohio. Join us for a wonderful afternoon of old time base ball and fun that the entire family will enjoy. What a better place to host the game then the gorgeous Willowtree Inn est. 1830. What a great event! Vintage base ball at one of Tipp City most beautiful and historic destinations… the Willowtree Inn.

Fire Chief Steve Kessler said Monday, July 27, that firefighters soon hope to have an official cause of the fire in the first block of East Main Street. The fire was reported around 8 p.m.

The fire was reported as being in the building housing the chamber of commerce, but actually was in the next building east.

The damaged building was used by Tipp City artist Sally Watson for her pottery studio.

This tournament will be for mainly 16 and 18 year old players (High School age).  We are a “Tipp City Based 501-c(3) Federal Non-Profit Organization” and we are asking whoever is in charge for use of the Kyle Park Facility on the dates of Oct. 10-11.

No lights will be needed and we do our own field maintenance so the city only has to empty a few trash cans so it is not going to cost the city any money at all whatsoever. We supply EVERYTHING.  We have put on fall tournaments for the last 3 or 4 years at Kyle as well as a few Summer 1 day tournaments and there has never been a problem.

This tournament can only be put on if there is no charge for the use of the fields for those 2 days.  According to the Tipp City field use policy we are exempt from field use fees since we are a
Tipp City based 501-c(3) non-profit.

Our teams are open to ANY Tipp City or surrounding community player who wants to play ***  Rec league softball is dwindling away because Jr. high coaches and high school coaches are asking their players to step up to the next level with City based organizations like the Valley Storm Softball Organization.

This tournament will actually be smaller than the Elizabeth Spano softball tournament put on by TCJB including the travel/select divisions hosted by TCJB.  We hope we can get an answer ASAP so we can set this tournament up ASAP.

All TCJB has on that date is possibly a fall hitting league so this will not interfere in any way with TCJB activities. This tournament would be great for the Tipp City economy as it would help fill the hotels and restaurants as well as downtown shopping, gas, etc.

Premier Art Exhibit “More Than Windows” – Friday, July 10, 2009 – 5-8PM

You’re invited to a premier art exhibit of the NEW STUDIO 14 Benkin Gallery of Art in Tipp City . The event is sponsored by the Tipp City Area Arts Council. The Tipp City Area Chamber of Commerce will be doing a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30PM.

TIPP CITY — Main Street downtown will be free of traffic but full of antiques, art and, organizers hope, people during the sixth Antique and Artisan Show Saturday, June 27.

About 70 antique dealers and local artists with everything from pottery to weaving, concrete work to paintings, photography and jewelry are lined up for Saturday’s show.

Antique dealers will offer antiques and collectibles, not flea market items, said Ruth Safreed, event organizer and former owner of Midwest Memories antiques and collectibles mall downtown.

Organizers don’t think the economy will keep people away. Despite the recession, people are buying antiques, said Terri Bessler, who purchased Midwest Memories business from Safreed earlier this year.

Different methods of getting the word out about the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. show are being used this year including e-mails and more Web listings, Safreed said…

Each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the market will provide shoppers a place to purchase products from local vendors — fruits and vegetables, baked goods and freshly prepared food items, garden plants and fresh cut flowers, handmade products and more.

The market is located in the heart of downtown Tipp City on Third at Main Street.

GERMANTOWN — The art show, ‘‘Windows of Praise, With a View of the Valley,’’ will be free and open to the public beginning the evening of June 5 through Oct. 1 at Germantown United Methodist Church, 140 E. Market St. Artwork inside the church will only displayed during the opening weekend. Artwork in the continuing exhibit will be displayed on the outside wall.

The idea was pitched by Charlotte Genslinger of Germantown to Germantown UMC Rev. Carla Stengel. Genslinger, and her husband, Kent, had recently visited the Windows of Tippecanoe, a similar creation located in the parking lot of Tipp City United Methodist Church.
