From the Tipp City Herald:

All those chomping at the bit waiting for Menards to open can finally relax – in less than two weeks the store will be open. The doors will open for business Tuesday, June 17, according to store manager Ralf Hamerski. “We are really looking forward to opening our doors,” he said. “Everyone should come out and see all of the new things we have in this beautiful new store. We plan to provide the best in home improvement products and services for everyone in the area for many years to come.” According to company spokesperson Jeff Abbott, the 240,000 square foot structure is the standard size for all of the company’s mega-stores. That square footage, however, does not include the outdoor lumber area.

Tipp City manager Brad Vath said Menards Inc. owns the 20 acres the structure was built upon and an additional 24 acres, which is zoned Highway Service. Vath said the zoning regulation means the land is permitted for restaurants, retail and other commercial uses. Vath said Menards is in control of marketing the property and the city is unaware at this time of any potential companies looking to break ground at the site.

Vath also said there is additional land located to the west side of Menard’s access road, Kinna Drive, owned by Paul Lee. That land also is zoned Highway Service. “Menards will help commercial development west of I-75,” Vath said. In addition to commercial development for the city, Menards brought 150 jobs to the area, according to Hamerski. “It’s a great place to work,” he said.

Menards carries the materials and tools for all home improvement projects in addition to brand name appliances, pet products, law and garden supplies, clothing and groceries. “With home improvement at the forefront of today’s do-it-yourself market, Menards provides a valuable resource for the entire community,” Abbott said. “Menards creates employment opportunities and economic growth while fulfilling the various home improvement needs of local homeowners, tenants, and business owners.”
